Update: Die Powenzbande

After 6 1/2 years, I have briefly rechecked this series. There are some boys in sailor suits (at least 4 in different ones, I didn’t even noticed before, adding tag sailor suits) and other historical clothes and costumes (H-style suspenders but not Lederhosen) and also ladies in sailor-style dresses. But the only notable scene is this big fighting scene in episode 2. Also shirtless in swim wear (same episode). 2 boys also being tied together (standing).

Most collars are wide but short. Some good scenes, but mostly from a distance. There are better movies.

Main entry, still rating 6

Die Buddenbrooks (1979)

Drama series, 11 ep
Year: 1979
Year in film: 1870s,
Country: Germany
Who in clothing: Kai ~8 ?
Who in clothing 2: boys sailor suit, hist. clothes, women
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no
Clothing occurence: low
Rating:  3/10
Rating: ***
Comment: After finding Ulf Schweikhardt in “Der Führerschein” (bedroom blog, rating 4), I found this series. Previously I only had the 1959 movie (b&w, rating 7) and the 2008 movie, rating 3. Raban Bieling.

I have checked the complete series at high speed and the only notable close-up scenes are in ep 9 (pics 1+2, set in 1871) probably showing Kai. Also without the straw hat. Long, light blue stripes suit with a regular, dark blue collar (3 stripes), white dickey unstriped.

Some very few kids including younger boys in the background at a beach in ep. 5 (pic 2, light blue blouse and white collar, set in 1855 ?) and ep 2 (medium blue blouse, dark pants, set in the 1840s ?). But both very briefly running School scenes in ep 10 but none in sailor suits (but other historical clothes). Also women in sailor-style dresses. Nice costumes.

Boys are very young. (Very few) good scenes.

So rating 3 only.

Comment: At least one older teen girl/young lady, maybe Romanian Elina Löwensohn in a medium blue, probably long sailor dress with matching collar and white stripes (very brief scene) and also some more, including younger girls, boys and woman in historical dresses (some with sailor-style collars). Also a boy in bib overalls, other blog, rating 4- (was 5). Many supporting actors, but few good scenes. Most from a distance.

Also on my pigtails blog, rating 4. Some 1890s Western settings and clothes including hats (no entry on my Western blog).

Few good scenes, so rating 2-3 only.

Bananas (1981)

Comment: At least Ingrid Steeger playing a rabbit boy in obviously green colorful patterned cotton shorts with H-style suspenders.

Has been aired yesterday.

Maybe Ingrid Steeger also wore Lederhosen in this series or in Klimbim. Also as toddler boy in Klimbim in bib overalls (entry on my other blog).

Brief clip. Unknown episode.

Rating 2-3 only. (Perfect comedy series).

Happy Easter!

Clothing occurence: low+ ?
Rating:  3/10 ?

Comment: Pigtailed Sydney Penny and some few other girls in white sailor dresses (black or dark blue skirt) and white collar, also some others in historical clothes including boys (most notable Vidal Peterson (“Something Wicked This Way Comes”) pants with suspenders, ranch hat, round glasses) and at least one woman (dress + large sailor-style collar) and some kids at least in ep 1 set at a fair show in 1921.

Sydney Penny is being caned on her hands.

Rather few good scenes but I mainly have checked part 1. The sailor dress looks almost like a Japanese fuku. Later parts are set in the 1960s.

Rating ~3. Also soon on my pigtails blog with another pic.

Now also on my Western blog rating 4 for Vidal Peterson.

Fallesmannin Arvo ja minä

Clothing occurence: low+ ?
Rating:  5/10 ?

Comment: One boy in a short, white sailor suit with a rare, dark blue collar, open at front, no scarf, 4 thin stripes, large and long collar flap. Also another boy in a dark blue suit with matching collar (brief scene). Also a woman in a green sailor dress with matching collar and girls in similar brown clothes and straw hats.

Interesting series. Nice rural and early setting.

I don’t know all episodes, but obviously only rather few scenes in few episodes.

Rating ~5.

Nesthäkchen – update 4

Some more pics of Nesthäkchen.

Nice scenes of different sailor suits on a beach, including a fighting scene. One collar is flying up. Also a lady in a sailor collar. One collar is rectangled at front (I already had him). 2 collars are dark blue, one has 4 stripes.

Nice Christmas scenes (both brothers in sailor suits) and Annemarie also with another collar, round at front (pic 3 from ep 4). Also nice caps and other historical clothes.

Also on my pigtails blog (rating 4) including a girl in very long pigtails. Also girls wearing sailor dresses including one in a red collar (I already had her as well).

Update: Die Feuerzangenbowle (1944)

Has been aired recently but this time, I have only watched the beginning and later checked it and found one more scene of boys in sailor suits and also a lady.

Pic 1 at 44 minutes, pic 2 at 11 minutes, pic 3  at 1h18. But all scenes are rather short and from a distance. I don’t like this movie. Most students are very old. New tag: hats.

Main entry, rating 3 at

Kapitany goluboy laguny

Who in clothing: boys ~6-13, sailor suits
Who in clothing 2: men, sailor suits

Clothing occurence: low+
Rating:  4/10
Rating: ****
Comment: First a young boy at around 15 minutes in a white sailor suit with a dark blue collar, round at front, 2 stripes, short collar flap and white dickey.

And at the end some few older boys in different sailor suits, also undressing scenes. Also boys in shorts earlier. And I think a lady in a builing in a sailor-style dress including collar.

Note, the open collar in pic 3 and also the collar is being touched by a man. Also some sailor men in sailor suits.

Handsome boys. But I noticed very few and brief scenes of sailor suits only.

So rating 4-5 only. Russian title: Капитаны голубой лагуны. English title: Captains of the Blue Lagoon.

Die Dasslers

Clothing occurence: low ?
Rating:  4/10 ?
Rating: ****
Comment: Part 1 has been aired yesterday, but I missed it almost completetly, as I have seen something else.

At least a young boy in a blue sailor suit and another boy in Lederhosen. Obviously few and brief scenes at around 1h11 (pics 2+3). Update: Pic 1 is at 1h02 (set in or before Olympia 1936 ?). Update 2 Also at least one woman in a sailor dress at 46.

I have to recheck it, as well check part 2 (broadcasting today, Saturday). Probably even fewer scenes in part 2, which is mainly set later. Subtitle: Pioniere, Brüder und Rivalen. Available on the mediathek.

Setting starts in 1922. Scenes probably set around 1936 or 1939 just before WWII (or maybe flashback scenes ).

Rating 3-4 for now only. Obviously very few scenes of interest.

English title: Rivals Forever – The Sneaker Battle. Not to be confused with “Duell der Brüder – Die Geschichte von Adidas und Puma” aka “Adidas vs. Puma” (also in 2016). I have to check this as well.
